2023 End of Season Round Up & Turkey Trot / 2023

Unfortunately the October event for the Baynham Bowl due to be played at Shifnal was cancelled due to wash out weather condtions.
As a result the commitee made the decision to double up the final event of the year with the winner of the front 9 at The Shropshire winning the 2023 Baynham Bowl with the full 18 hole winner taking the Turkey Trot victory.
With wet conditions at The Shropshire the course was just about playable albeit difficult. Members made the most of the day out as always however and fortunately the rain held off to round off the season.
It was a race against light for those last out and competing for the 2023 Victor crown.
Bob Cliffe had a great round score of 35 points overall and a strong front 9 saw him take home the Baynham Bowl. It was Russell Hinds who took the overall victory for the Turkey Trot though with a fantastic score bearing in mind the conditions of 37.
Unfortunately Tony Thorne had to withdraw after 9 holes due to injury so takes home the frog for the winter due to society rules. A close shave for Mr Potter.
With the victor leaders finishing outside of the top 10 and taking no victor points its going to be close final count up for the seasons crown with the result to be confirmed at the AGM.
Thanks all for another super season of the SGS. The AGM will be held on Sunday 3rd December with members already looking forward to the 2024 season where Dave Owens will take post as Captain. Vice Captain TBC.
