It's not often a competition from one year gets played in the next, but after a run of weather cancellations that would test the patience of even the most dedicated golfer, the 2025 Presidents Cup finally made it onto the course this March — and the hills of Welshpool delivered a suitably bracing backdrop for the occasion.

The day was a cold one. A proper chill hanging over the fairways, the kind that makes you question every life choice that led you to be standing on a Welsh hillside with a set of irons. But while the temperature did its best to get into everyone's head, not all were deterred.
Dave Jones, it's fair to say, simply didn't get the memo about the cold. He played with a warmth and authority that put the rest of the field in the shade, taking the Presidents Cup with a thoroughly deserved victory. A fine winner, and one that was hard to argue with.

Terry Thorne wasn't far behind — perhaps not quite as fired up as the champion, but composed and consistent enough to claim a solid runner-up spot. A good day's golf from Terry, and one he can look back on with satisfaction.

John Evans, took the full force of the Welsh winter. The chill got into his bones and stayed there, and John picked up the Frog for his troubles. We've all been there, John. There'll be another day.

A long time coming, but a great occasion. Roll on the next one — and here's hoping the weather plays ball a little sooner.
