Market Drayton Golf Club / 2021
2021-09-03The final event of the 2021 SGS season, the Turkey Trot, was held at Market Drayton Golf Club.
The course was in good condition for the time of year, and although the blustery conditions proved to be a test, it was an enjoyable day nonetheless.
With all to play for between Dave Sullivan & Delwyn Humpries in the final 4 ball of the day with the Victor crown in sight, it was a race against the light to get around the full 18. The win on the day goes to Chairman Paul Ellis, on a back 9 count back with 33 points reflecting the challenging conditions. Bob Hinds comes runner up also with 33 points. Unfortunately, dogged by a lot of misfortune and a dodgy mates rates golf lesson down the driving range the previous evening, it was yours truly. Tom Bennett has the pleasure of looking after the coveted Frog trophy over the winter break.
With neither Delwyn or Dave managing to break into the Victor scoring on the day it was Dave Sullivan that took home the Victor Crown for the 2021 season. Well done, Dave!
Many thanks to all members that attended the AGM at the The Curry House in December; it was a fantastic meal and an enjoyable evening for all.
The next meeting will take place at The Steam Wagon on Thursday 3rd February 2022 at 7.30 pm, with 2022 subs due on the night.
Wishing all members and happy new year and a big welcome to the new members' Dean Robinson, Luke Blumfield, Dave Sharples, Tony Thorne & Ben Armstrong, taking us up to 39 members.
We look forward to kicking off the 2022 SGS season in March.
