News Update - Ingestre Park Golf Club /
2024-07-19
What a day!! In the words of Caroline Aherne it was SCORCHIO (if you know you know).
Captains day will be one to remember, weather wise at least. The hottest day of this rather rubbish summer certainly took its toll on those that walked the course, there were some pretty knackered players at the end, I don't think I have ever seen so many soft drinks bought from the bar on a society day.
Anyone who had previously played at Ingestre Park would not have recognised what was, bar 4 or 5 holes, brand new. It was a shame that the golf club didnt let us know to update our GPS devices in advance because Garmins didnt work and needed a PC update. What did we do before technology?
Again there were mixed views about the course, however, it was in superb condition with some very challenging greens.
The average was a very low 24.16 but I am convinced this was down mainly to the extreme (i'm not a climate crisis numpty) weather, the long rough and the challenging greens.
Winner on the day was Alex Nichols with Dean Robinson picking up the frog.
A special mention has to go to Mr Captain (Dave Owens) for arranging the day and providing the beers.
