The penultimate event of the 2021 SGS season, the Baynham Bowl, was held at Oswestry Golf Club.

The course was in fantastic condition and a surprisingly great days weather for the time of year, provided an excellent day of golf for the members. The mature parkland course at just short of 6000 yards was a nice test for all with a slightly more open and forgiving front 9 and a trickier back 9 with its left to right sloping fairways, requiring an accurate tee shot to stay out of trouble.

The win on the day goes to John Evans with an excellent score of 40 points. Steve Phillips comes runner up with 35 points on countback with Dave Sullivan and Simon Lock also scoring 35 points. Unable to find his breakaway form on the day was Alex Nichols who took home the frog trophy.

The race for the victor crown has narrowed down to two clear favourites in Dave Sullivan & Del Humphreys on 33 & 30 points respectively and I'm sure both will be hoping for a good performance next time out with the title for the season in their sights.

The final event for the year, the Turkey Trot will be on Saturday 6th November at Market Drayton followed the by the AGM on Saturday 12th December at The Third Place, Shrewsbury
