The 2nd & 3rd events for the SGS season were held at Wergs Golf Club & Eaton Golf Club.

Wergs - The par 73 parkland course in Wolverhampton proved to be a tough test for the March 19th Hole event with windy conditions and rapid greens. Captain Colin Robinson finally drove into office which was great to see.

It was Steve Taylor who took the win for the day with a solid score and playing to handicap with 36 points. Unfortunatley Dave Sharples' RAC trousers couldnt save him from a breakdown on the course and he took home the frog trophy.

Eaton - The relatively long par 72 course was in fantastic condition for the April Ade Clarke Memorial Event. The Cheshire course designed by Donald Steel makes good use of the Cheshire countryside with gently undulating fairways and incorporates 2 streams which provide an interesting natural hazard across much of the course to which a few balls were lost on the day.

An interesting stat for the day was that for the first time in over 2 years, all members entered the event below a 28 handicap which was really fantastic to see.

The win on the day went to Tom Bennett with 33 points on a back 9 countback to John Evans who played some excellent golf off his 11 handicap. The frog trophy was picked up by Tony Thorne.

After two excellent events and summer hopefully on its way we look forward to seeing all members at the next event which will be the Summer Salver held at Great Barr Golf Club on Friday 17th June.
